The vast majority of immigrants from Pomigliano D'Arco, Napoli, Italy settled in East New York, Brooklyn, NY, USA. The intersection of Pacific Street and Eastern Parkway became the most well known site where Pomiglianese people congregated to strengthen their culturally bonds.
In the 1950’s , one man worked hard to keep the Pomiglianese spirit alive. This man was Raffaele Pugliese. He was the first to organize a club known as the Imbriano Club. This club was created to help keep immigrants together and to help spread and share riches of the culture.
As years past the immigrants slowly started to leave East New York each establishing their own “American Dream”. Still the bonds that were made on those streets of East New York held strong through phone calls and the occasional meetings at weddings and sadly funerals.
In the late 1980’s Nicola Caizzo, Biaggio Pulcrano, Giovanni Cerulli and Vincenzo De Falco and friends came together and in the spirit of East New York put together a Pomigliano D'Arco dinner dance. After holding the dinner dance for three years, the Pomilianese spirit died down. We have established Figli Di Pomigliano D'Arco to renew this Pomiglianese spirit.
